Lim's big night propels Pirates past Hornets in four

FULLERTON -- Sierra Lim tied a school record with 44 digs to lead the Orange Coast College women's volleyball team to a four-set win over host Fullerton College on Friday night.

Lim, who tied Carina Perez's 44-dig effort in 2013 (also at Fullerton), was all over the floor as the Pirates (8-12, 3-7 in Orange Empire Conference) topped the Hornets, 24-26, 25-15, 25-14, 27-25, and snapped a six match losing streak.

On the offensive side of things, Hannah Del Barto ripped a team-best 22 kills and added 13 digs, while Breanna Gardner added 12 kills and 11 digs. Setter Enjelica Glattli dished out 55 assists, while Funaki Hansen and Tileree were big in the middle of the court with three solo blocks each.

Shawnee Longmeyer had 17 kills for the Hornets (3-13, 1-9), while Rebecca Hicks added 11 kills. Sydney Maldonado had 25 assists and Victoria Rodriguez notched 13 digs.

The Pirates will look for two in a row on Friday at Santiago Canyon College, beginning at 6 p.m. OCC's next home match will take place on Friday, Nov. 4 against Riverside City College, also at 6 p.m.
