Pirates roll past Gauchos, 20-6
MISSION VIEJO -- A strong offensive start helped pave the way for the Orange Coast College women's water polo team during Wednesday's 20-6 Orange Empire Conference win over host Saddleback College.
The Pirates (2-2, 1-1 in OEC) scored 10 of the game's first 11 goals and jumped out to a 15-3 halftime lead, never looking back.
Kellie Thorsness led the way with six goals for OCC. Katelyn Hansen added three goals, while teammates Audrey Hung, Aubry Hill, Kaitlin Finney and Lauren Babb each added two goals.
Brittney Farrell and Mallory McCammon each had two goals to lead the Gauchos.
The Pirates will return to action this weekend at the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament, beginning on Friday at 11:40 a.m. against Citrus College. OCC's next home match will be on Wednesday, Oct. 16 against Cypress, beginning at 3 p.m.
