Pirates' season ends with loss to Riverside

NORWALK -- An old conference foe put an end to the 2013 season for the Orange Coast College women's water polo team as the Pirates fell to Riverside City College 11-5 on Friday at the Southern California Regional Championships, held at Cerritos College.

OCC (12-12), seeded seventh in the tournament, hung tough with the second-seeded Tigers (26-4), trailing only 8-5 after three quarters of play.

But the Tigers clamped down on defense and did not allow a goal the rest of the way, adding to their lead with three goals over the final eight minutes of play.

Audrey Hung and Lauren Babb each had two goals for the Pirates, while Katelyn Hansen added a single goal.

Goalie Lindsey Richardson notched six saves for Coast.

Riverside was led by Nikki Bell, who had five goals. RCC's goalie, Katia Montoya, came up with nine saves.
