Pirate pitchers quiet Cougars in 5-2 win

SANTA CLARITA -- The Orange Coast College baseball team used several arms, but the results were the same -- another strong pitching performance in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the College of the Canyons.

Five different pitchers were used and they held the Cougars to just two runs on three hits, walking two, while striking out a combined seven.

While the Cougars' bats were struggling, OCC (3-1) managed to produce 10 hits. Coast was led offensively by Manny Argomaniz, who went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, one run scored and one RBI. Danny Jimenez collected two hits and scored once, while RBI-hits were turned in by Zach Nehrir and Chris Iriart.

The Pirates will return to action on Thursday at Long Beach City College, beginning at 2 p.m. The game, originally scheduled for Friday, was moved up to Thursday due to a gloomy Friday forecast.le
