Pirates celebrate 70 years of baseball on April 14 vs. Hornets

COSTA MESA -- With six state titles and 18 conference crowns, the Orange Coast College baseball team has had a lot to celebrate over the past seven decades and on Saturday, April 14, the Pirates will host Fullerton College as the team celebrates its 70th birthday. Game time is set for 12 p.m.

OCC will provide some special giveaways for the first 125 fans in attendance and admission to that game is free for everyone! In addition to a crucial ball game between the Pirates and rival Hornets, a special pregame ceremony will take place and Pete the Pirate will be on hand to take pictures with the kids in attendance.

Also, tickets for this year's "Orange Coast College Night" will be available at the game. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will honor our college as they host the Minnesota Twins on Saturday, May 12, beginning at 6:05 p.m. Tickets will be available at the OCC-Fullerton game for $25 each and the price of the ticket also includes a Angels-OCC Hat, which can be redeemed at the game on May 12.

In addition to the celebration of OCC's 70th birthday, it promises to be a crucial game between two of the top teams in the Orange Empire Conference. As of this writing, the Pirates (19-11, 7-4 in OEC) and Hornets (15-14, 7-4) are tied for first place along with Saddleback atop the conference standings and both are ranked in the state top-20 in the latest California Community College Sports Information Association State Baseball Poll.
