Ransom earns first-team honors for Pirates
COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College sophomore forward Marquis Ransom earned a spot on this year's first-team, All-Orange Empire Conference Team, as selected by the head coaches at their season-end conference meeting this past weekend.
Ransom, a 6-foot-3 standout from Centennial HS, was OCC's main offensive weapon, averaging 13.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game for the Pirates (12-15, 3-9 in OEC).
Despite going up against guys bigger and taller than him on a daily basis, Ransom delivered for the Pirates, especially over his final five games, where he average 18.2 points and helped Coast pick up a pair of OEC wins to finish the season strong.
Ransom, who came to Coast after spending a season at the College of the Sequoias, had a career-high 27 points and seven rebounds in OCC's 85-68 win over Rio Hondo on Dec. 1.
