CYPRESS -- The Orange Coast College men's soccer team managed to pick up a hard-fought 2-2 tie with host Cypress College on Friday in an Orange Empire Conference matchup.
Trailing 2-1 for most of the contest, the Pirates (2-6-3 overall, 0-2-2 in the OEC) picked up the equalizer three minutes into stoppage time when Ossy Portillo took a feed from Gabriel Garcia and found the back of the net, enabling OCC to pick up a well-earned point against the Chargers (4-3-4, 1-0-3).
Cypress led 1-0 and 2-1, but Coast hung tough. Brady Powell brought the Pirates even at 1 in the 25th minute with a goal off a feed from Jack Chapman.
Cesar Pedroza-Acosta picked up four saves in goal for the Pirates, while Cypress goalkeeper Daniel Zamarripa had one save.
Coast will return to action on Tuesday at home against Saddleback College, beginning at 3 p.m.
