Pirates pick up 3-0 road win at Santiago Canyon

ORANGE -- The Orange Coast College men's soccer team closed out the first round of Orange Empire Conference play with a convincing 3-0 road win at Santiago Canyon College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Pirates (5-7-3, 2-3-2 in the OEC) used a dominating second half against the host Hawks (2-9-2, 0-6-1), outshooting SCC 16-4 over the final 45 minutes.

Brady Powell got things started for OCC in the 30th minute and found the back of the net to put the Pirates up, 1-0.

It stayed that way until the 76th minute, when Gabriel Garcia scored to make it 2-0. Finally, in the 89th minute, Lucas Fiche picked up Coast's third tally of the afternoon to round out the scoring.

In goal, Michael Matzuy came up with two saves to preserve the shutout win.

OCC will return to action on Friday at Golden West College, beginning at 3 p.m. OCC's next home contest will take place on Tuesday against Fullerton College, beginning at 7 p.m. inside OCC's LeBard Stadium.
