Pirates pick up 5-4 win over Mt. San Jacinto
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team improved to 3-1 with a hard-fought 5-4 nonconference win over visiting Mt. San Jacinto on Tuesday.
OCC carried a 4-2 lead after singles play, thanks to the strong play of Andrew Pham (6-4, 6-2), Chad Meyer (6-2, 6-2), Francesco Nguyen (6-0, 6-0) and Dillon Nguyen (6-0, 6-1).
In doubles, the Eagles tied the contest up with a pair of 8-5 wins before OCC's No. 3 doubles team of Pham and Nguyen prevailed, 8-2 to seal the match.
OCC will open up Orange Empire Conference play on Tuesday at home against Saddleback, beginning at 2 p.m.
