Pirates zap Chargers, 8-1
CYPRESS -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team returned to the "win" column on Thursday with a solid 8-1 win at Cypress College in an Orange Empire Conference matchup.
Coast (6-7, 3-3 in OEC) grabbed control of the match in singles play, winning five-of-six contests.
Andrew Pham (6-3, 6-3), Chris Chiu (6-2, 6-2), Chad Meyer (6-0, 6-0), Dillon Nguyen (6-1, 6-1) and Sithiphon Chantos (7-6, 6-2) each came away with wins for the Pirates.
In doubles, it was more of the same as Chiu/Meyer (8-3), Pham/Nguyen (8-0) and Chris Tran and Anthony Thai (8-2) walked off the tennis courts with wins for OCC.
The Pirates will return to action on Tuesday at home against Imperial Valley, beginning at 2 p.m.
