Coast rolls past Cypress, 8-1

COSTA MESA -- With a clean sweep in singles play, the Orange Coast College men's tennis team took care of business on Tuesday, beating visiting Cypress 8-1 in an Orange Empire Conference matchup at OCC's Tennis Complex.

The Pirates (5-3, 2-0 in OEC) lost only 15 games throughout the 12 sets in singles. Francesco Nguyen earned a 6-0, 6-0 win, while Dillon Nguyen nearly matched his teammate in a 6-0, 6-1 win. Other singles wins for OCC were turned in by Andrew Pham (6-1, 6-1), Chris Chiu (6-0, 6-2), Chad Meyer (6-2, 6-3) and Michael Chantos (6-2, 6-3).

In doubles play, Chiu and Meyer picked up an 8-5 win, while the team of Anthony Thai and Chris Tran cruised to an 8-0 win.

The Pirates will return to action on Thursday at Saddleback, beginning at 2 p.m.
