Pirates make quick work of L.A. Pierce

COSTA MESA -- It was a complete team effort as the Orange Coast College men's volleyball team improved to 7-0 with a straight-set win over visiting L.A. Pierce College on Friday night inside the Peterson Gym.

In a match that took just over an hour to complete, Coast found plenty of support on both sides of the net to defeat the Brahmas, 25-15, 25-14, 25-18.

Jim Webb led the offense with 11 kills, while Ty Hutchins added 10, Nick Amado chipped in seven and Braden Hall contributed six.

Coast came up big at the net, recording 12 blocks and holding the Brahmas (3-4) to only one lead (1-0) and just one string of points that was more than two in a row (four).

The win gives the Pirates (7-0) a clean sweep through the Western State Conference and plenty of momentum heading into Wednesday night's matchup with defending state champion Golden West College, which will take place at GWC, beginning at 6 p.m.
