Hutchins, Webb highlight Pirate selections for All-PCC Team

COSTA MESA -- The newly-crowned, state-champion, Orange Coast College men's volleyball team filled in several slots in this year's All-Pacific Coast Conference Team, as selected by the PCC head coaches.

Sophomore outside hitter, Ty Hutchins was named PCC's Player of the Year, while head coach Travis Turner was named PCC Coach of the Year -- the fourth such honor of his Coast coaching career.

Hutchins, a 6-foot-5 standout who will be taking his talents to Brigham Young University in the Fall, was a solid, two-way player for the Pirates as he totaled 257 kills, 84 digs and 25 total blocks.

Joining Hutchins on the first-team list is freshman outside hitter Jim Webb, who led the Pirates with 264 kills, 79 digs, a team-best 26 aces and 44 total blocks. Sadly for the Pirates, Webb's career at Coast will last just one year as he will move on and begin Navy SEAL training. He finished his volleyball career in style, notching a team-best 20 kills and five aces to lead Coast to a five-set win over Santa Monica City College in the California Community College Athletic Association State Championship on Friday at Santiago Canyon College.

Sophomore setter Brendan Duff earned second-team honors for the Pirates after dishing out 699 assists this past season and 1,293 for his two-year career -- sixth-best in OCC men's volleyball history.

Freshman libero Ryan Manoogian, defensive leader of the Pirates (20-1 overall), earned third-team honors after leading the team with 106 digs in 2014.

OCC reached the 20-win mark for just the 10th time in school history, last reached in 2002 (22-1).
