Pirates post back-to-back wins!

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- After a slow start, the Orange Coast College softball team has picked up some momentum and notched a pair of victories over Chaffey College on Saturday (9-1) and at Golden West College (5-3) on Wednesday.

In the win over the Panthers, Coast (2-6) used a five-run fourth inning to jump out in front 7-1, then, knocked in a pair of runs in the fifth to close the game out. Taylor McGrann was the star of the game, going 3-for-3 with one run and five RBI. Kellie Tiner picked up the win and went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI, while Mariah Dominguez added two hits and two runs scored.

McGrann lined a two-run double in the second inning, added a two-run single in the fifth and closed the game out with an RBI-single in the sixth.

Tiner allowed just one run on two hits over five innings, walking three and striking out eight.

In the win over the Rustlers, Ariel Fernandez went 1-for-3 with three RBI, while McGrann, Natalie Bramlett, Ariana Lopez and Bailey Blair added two hits apiece. 

Tiner again collected a complete-game win, allowing three runs (one earned) on four this with five walks and four strikeouts over seven innings.

Coast returns to action on Friday at home against Cypress, beginning at 2 p.m.
