Lopez moves on to Grace University

COSTA MESA -- Former Orange Coast College second baseman Ariana Lopez will continue her athletic and academic careers at Grace University, according to Pirate head coach Jodie Legaspi-Kiaha.

After a slow start to her sophomore season, Lopez batted .259 in Orange Empire Conference play with 14 hits, two doubles and five RBI.

Lopez played in all 33 games for Coast this year and played in 29-of-31 games for the Pirates as a freshman last year, collecting 29 hits in her OCC career.

"Ariana worked extremely hard in the classroom all season long on top of her commitments as a student athlete here at OCC," Legaspi-Kiaha said.

"She boasted a 4.0 grade-point average before leaving Coast and that is a huge reason why she will be successful at the next level. I am blessed to have had to opportunity to coach her and look forward to her future."
