Pirates come up short in loss to Chargers
CYPRESS -- The Orange Coast College women's basketball team battled Cypress College to the final buzzer, but came up short in a 59-57 loss on Wednesday night.
Dayanara Armenta had 16 points to lead the Pirates (10-11, 1-4 in Orange Empire Conference), while Michelle Angel added 12 points and Jalecia Wilson and Jessica Johnson each tossed in 10 points each off of the bench.
Samantha Soria and Sloan Turner each had 18 points for the Chargers, who remain unbeaten in OEC play at 4-0 (15-7 overall).
Orange Coast returns to action on Friday at Fullerton College, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
OCC's next home game will be on Friday, Feb. 1 against Saddleback on "Coaches vs. Cancer Night", beginning at 7:30 p.m.
