Coast comes up short against Hornets

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team dropped its first Orange Empire Conference match of the season -- a 6-3 loss to visiting Fullerton College on Thursday.

OCC (3-2 overall) forced a 3-3 tie after singles, thanks to a standout effort by sophomore Krystal Hernandez, who gutted out a 7-6 (10-8), 7-5 win over Sarah Anderson in No. 1 singles.

Maddie Koehly needed three sets, but came out on top over Jasmine Catolico, 7-5, 4-6, 6-0. For

Michelle Cyrus, she swept past Cailin Mitchell, 6-4, 6-2.

But in doubles, it was a different story as the Hornets won all three matches to pull out the win.

Coast will return to action on Tuesday at Cypress College, beginning at 2 p.m.
