Pirates roll to four wins in four-way doubleheader

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's volleyball team hosted a pair of four-team, two-match events and the Pirates swept their way to victories in all four matches.
Coast opened things on Wednesday with a 26-24, 25-17, 25-19 win over Southwestern College. Danyelle Brown and Kerrigan Hecht each had 10 kills to lead the Pirates, while Katie Duhoux added nine. The OCC defense dominated play, led by Alisa Ricciardi with 30 digs. Duhoux added 24, while Brown notched 23.
Pacing the offense was setter Measha Lindstrand, who dished out 31 assists.
From there, the Pirates hosted San Bernardino Valley and rolled to a 25-20, 25-11, 25-15 win.
Again, Brown (14 kills, 20 digs) and Hecht (10 kills) led the way offensively, while Lehua Alama-Jordan added eight kills and six digs.
Ricciardi again anchored the defense with 34 digs, while Lindstrand added 41 assists to her impressive nonconference totals. She is currently third among all setters in the state, averaging 11.15 assists per set.
On Friday, the Pirates opened their next quad against Glendale and proceeded to sweep the Vaqueros, 25-17, 25-15, 25-21. Brown was dominant for Coast, slamming down 23 kills to go along with 14 digs. Duhoux added five kills and a team-best 16 digs, while Ricciardi notched 13 digs of her own. Brown and Kaitlynn Biard each had three solo blocks, while Hecht, Lindstrand and Chloe Kuhen each added two.
In the quad finale, Coast took on Rio Hondo and earned a hard-fought 27-25, 25-22, 25-18 win to improve their overall record to 7-1. Brown had 15 kills and 15 digs, both team highs, while Alama-Jordan added 10 kills and Hecht contributed seven kills.
Ricciardi again was strong on defense with 13 digs, while Lindstrand dished out 32 assists.
Coast will return to action on Wednesday at home against Citrus, beginning at 5 p.m.
