Danyelle Brown moves on to Dickinson State

COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College women's volleyball standout Danyelle Brown will be heading north after a stellar two-year career with the Pirates and will be attending Dickinson State University in North Dakota in the to continue her athletic and academic careers.

Brown, who earned first-team, All-Orange Empire Conference honors this year, racked up 330 kills and 417 digs for the Pirates in 2015. Her 417 digs are fourth-best for one season in school history.

A consistent two-way player, Brown earned double-digit kills in 20-of-23 matches played this season and racked up 20-or-more digs in eight matches. Her career-highs in both categories came on Oct. 9 against Fullerton, where she collected 24 kills and 35 digs in a five-set matchup with the Hornets.

As a freshman, Brown was named the OCC Freshman of the Year and was a key contributor with 187 kills and 199 digs, earning second-team, All-OEC honors along the way.

For her career, her 517 kills are ninth-best in school history, while her 616 digs are fifth-best among all-time in Coast history.

Brown will be the second Pirate in recent memory to head up to Dickinson State. She will be joining former OCC setter Danielle Boyette, who joined the Blue Hawks last season.

Before coming to Coast, Brown had a standout career at Tustin HS, and was a two-year club standout at Top Gun as well as the Ohana Athletic Club.
