Pirates keep on rolling with 3-1 record at Mt. SAC tournament

WALNUT -- The strong 2017 season continues for the Orange Coast College women's water polo team as the Pirates racked up a 3-1 record at last weekend's Mt. San Antonio College Tournament.

The Pirates (11-2) rolled to a convincing 19-11 win over San Diego Mesa in the opening matchup on Friday as Bailey Lloyd led the way with six goals, one assist and three steals. Kinsey Ollis chipped in three goals, while Lilli Lindgard, Madison Weber, Shawna Kedzie and Laurin Semmelroth each added two goals.

Coast took on the state's top ranked team, Santa Barbara, in the afternoon matchup on Friday and the Vaqueros prevailed over the Pirates, 13-9. Lloyd added three goals, while Weber and Kedzie tossed in a pair each.

After suffering just their second loss of the season (both to SBCC), the Pirates took their angst out on Palomar with an 18-3 rout over the Comets. Lloyd, Kedzie and Semmelroth each scored three goals, while Weber and Sian Davis each added two.

In the finale, Coast took on the host Mounties and rolled to a 20-7 win. Lloyd was dominant on Saturday with eight goals, while Kedzie added four and Davis tossed in three.

OCC goalie Avery Goodall controlled things in net throughout the weekend and notched three wins with a combined 31 saves in the four matches.

The Pirates will travel to Fullerton College to take on the Hornets on Wednesday, beginning at 4 p.m.
