Pirate standout Jamaal Lee earns first-team, All-OEC honors

COSTA MESA -- Standout sophomore guard/forward Jamaal Lee earned first-team, All-Orange Empire Conference honors for the Orange Coast College men's basketball team last week, as voted on by the conference's coaches at their annual postseason meeting.

Lee played in all 26 games for the Pirates this year and averaged 16.3 points, 12 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, one of the best all-around seasons for a men's basketball player in school history.

The 33-year-old led the OEC in scoring average and nearly doubled the next-highest OEC rebounder on this way to earning first-team honors.

Lee scored 20 or more points eight different times this year, including a 29-point, 14-rebound performance against Palomar on Nov. 11. He followed that night up with a 27-point, 22-rebound night against Miramar College two nights later and on Nov. 28, notched the first triple-double in recent school history with 17 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists against San Diego City College on Nov. 28.

With his strong all-around play, Lee will continue his athletic and academic careers at Vanguard University in the Fall.
