Pirates wrap up regular season with 1-1 tie against Fullerton

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College men's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a hard-fought 1-1 tie against visiting Fullerton College on Friday afternoon at the OCC Soccer Complex.

In a matchup of two evenly-matched teams, the Pirates (6-6-8, 5-4-5 in Orange Empire Conference) struck first when a corner kick was deflected by Blake Rooney over to teammate Carlos Valencia and the freshman forward slammed the ball into the net, putting Coast ahead, 1-0.

OCC netminder Nathan Brown continued his impressive play, notching eight saves before the Hornets (9-5-7, 7-3-4) found an equalizer in the 76th minute.

The playoff matchups will be announced early next week and according to the latest RPI rankings, the Pirates should be among those teams moving on into the postseason. Be sure to check back at www.occpirateathletics.com for the latest information as it becomes available.
