Pirate men take second overall at OEC Championships

RIVERSIDE -- The Orange Coast College men's track and field team finished in second place overall at the 2018 Orange Empire Conference Track and Field Championships, hosted by Riverside City College, on Friday.

OCC's top performance came in the 1,600-meter relay, where the foursome of Vincent Wilson, Cody Epstein, Alixander Morse and Austin Brown took on some of the top relays in the region and finished second overall with a time of 3 minutes, 25.62 seconds.

Morse, who already qualified for the CCCAA State Meet in the decathlon in April, earned a spot at next week's Southern California Regional Meet (hosted my San Diego Mesa College on May 5 and 12) in the 110 high hurdles (third place, 15.47), the high jump (5-8 3/4) and the 400 hurdles (fourth, 57.26).

In the triple jump, James Deras picked up a third-place mark of 41-feet, 2 1/4 inches, ahead of OCC teammate Keldon Brent (seventh, 37-1 3/4).

Another top-three performance for the Pirates occurred in the 400 relay, where the foursome of David Alvarez, Cameron Ha, Javier Molina and Lamar Dixon finished third overall with a time of 45.45.
