Pirates bounce back with sweep over Jets

COSTA MESA -- Fresh off of a hard-fought five-set loss to rival Golden West, the Orange Coast College men's volleyball team returned to the "win" column with a straight-set win over visiting Miramar College on Friday night inside the Peterson Gym.

The offense was spread around evenly for the Pirates (10-2, 3-1 in the Pacific Coast Conference), who took less than an hour to ground the Jets, 25-11, 25-15, 25-14.

Mitch Holt led the Pirates with eight kills, while Adrian Faitalia chipped in seven kills and six digs. Austin Marriott added six kills and Gianluca Grasso contributed five kills, with Jake Adams dishing out 26 assists along the way.

For the Jets (0-9, 0-5), Anthony Carrasco led the offense with nine kills.

The Pirates will return to action on Wednesday at home against San Diego City College, beginning at 6 p.m. On Friday, Coast will host Palomar, beginning at 2 p.m.
