COSTA MESA -- It was an emphatic season opener for the Orange Coast College women's soccer team as the Pirates rolled past visiting Cuyamaca, 11-0, on Friday at the OCC Soccer Complex.
Sydnee Busby led the Pirates' offense with four goals and two assists, while Shelle Zito was close behind with three goals and two assists. Aileen Ortiz added two goals, while single tallies were turned in by Lupe Rodriguez and Jordan Moore.
Moore also notched a pair of assists, while solo helpers were provided by Samantha Lombardo, Cristina Arenales, Cintia Ruiz, Sam Oliver and Ciara Brennan.
Tara Tellez started in goal for the Pirates and played the first half without seeing a Cuyamaca shot on goal. The same was said for teammate Michelle Dunches, who played the second half in goal.
OCC will take part in the Ventura Tournament on Thursday and will play Santa Barbara at 3 p.m. before taking on West Valley on Friday at 3 p.m.
