Coast improves to 3-1 with a 5-3 win over El Camino

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team is 3-1 to start the 2016 season, with its recent victory coming on Thursday with a 5-3 win over visiting El Camino.

Clarisa Colling (6-0, 6-2), Karen Trinh (6-4, 5-1) and Cecilia Arzaga (1-6, 7-6, 10-8) got the Pirates out to a 3-0 lead with their singles victories, but the Warriors earned wins in the final three singles to even the match at 3.

In doubles, Colling/Trinh came through with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles before Charli Crites and Kaitlyn Dahlberg notched an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles to secure the win for the Pirates.

It's been a strong start to the season for women's tennis, thanks to a 9-0 win over Cuyamaca and a 7-2 win at San Diego City to begin the campaign. OCC was edged by Mt. San Antonio, 5-4, before bouncing back with Thursday's win over the Warriors.

OCC will return to action on Friday, at home, against Bakersfield, beginning at 2 p.m.
