Pirates continue to roll with 5-4 win over Saddleback
MISSION VIEJO -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team picked up a hard-fought 5-4 Orange Empire Conference win over host Saddleback College on Thursday in an Orange Empire Conference matchup.
No. 1 singles player Clarisa Calling helped lead the Pirates (6-1, 2-0 in OEC) to the tough road win by edging out Saddleback's Ashley Glick in singles, 6-4, 6-4, before joining Karen Trinh and topping Glick and Dominique Willette, 8-2, in doubles.
Coast also picked up crucial straight-set wins in singles by Cecilia Arzaga (6-3, 6-0), Janine Panas (6-0, 6-3) and Ivana Kovacevic (7-6, 6-0).
The Pirates will return to action on Thursday at Cypress College (2 p.m.) before returning home to face Irvine Valley College on Tuesday, March 8, at 2 p.m.
