Pirates win two on the road
LONG BEACH -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team took to the road last week and picked up a 6-3 win at Cypress College before topping Long Beach City College, 7-2, on Friday.
In Thursday's Orange Empire Conference win over the Chargers, the Pirates jumped out to a 4-2 lead with straight-set singles wins from Clarisa Colling (6-0, 6-1), Karen Trinh (6-3, 6-3), Cecilia Arzaga (6-4, 6-0) and Janine Panas (6-1, 6-1).
It was more of the same in doubles play as the teams of Colling/Trinh (8-5) and Panas/Kaitlyn Dahlberg (8-4) rolled to victory.
The following day, the Pirates (8-1, 3-0 in conference), headed up to Long Beach City College to take on the Vikings and the results were just as impressive. Singles wins were posted by Trinh (6-2, 6-2), Lauren Saito (6-1, 6-2), Charli Crites (7-6, 6-4), Yuka Tsukada (6-1, 6-1) and Dalhberg (6-0, 6-0), while in doubles, Colling/Dahlberg (8-1) and Trinh/Tsukada (default) came out victorious.
Coast will return to action on Tuesday at home against Irvine Valley College, beginning at 2 p.m.
