Pirates keep on winning with 8-1 victory over El Camino

COSTA MESA -- The defending state champion Orange Coast College women's tennis team has kept up its winning ways with an 8-1 nonconference win over visiting El Camino College on Tuesday.

After ending the 2017 season winners of 12 straight, including the CCCAA team state championship, the Pirates have notched wins in their first four matches, with victories coming over San Diego City (9-0), College of the Canyons (9-0) and Mt. San Antonio (9-0) before Tuesday's triumph over the Warriors.

OCC picked up enough wins to prevail in singles play alone, winning five of its six matches played. Pirate wins came from Miri Inoue (6-1, 7-5), Jo Ann Taylor (1-6, 7-6, 10-0 tiebreaker), Sara Le Boulenge (6-0, 6-0), Claire Boettcher (6-3, 6-0) and Emily Fujita (6-3, 6-0).

It was a sweep in doubles for the Pirates, thanks to wins by the teams of Inoue/Camryn Mason (8-5), Taylor/Le Boulenge (8-3) and Boettcher/Fujita (8-1).

Coast will return to action on Friday at home against Imperial Valley, beginning at 9 a.m.
