Pirates continue to roll with 9-0 win over Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA -- The defending state champion Orange Coast College women's tennis team continued its dominating play with a 9-0 nonconference win at Santa Barbara City College on Friday.

Coast picked up five straight-set wins in singles from Miri Inoue (6-0, 6-0), Jo Ann Taylor (6-1, 6-1), Sara Le Boulenge (6-1, 6-0), Emily Fujita (6-2, 6-3) and Samantha Newhall (6-0, 6-2). At No. 3 singles, Camryn Mason overcame a first-set loss to prevail, 4-6, 6-0 (10-7).

In doubles, it was more of the same as the Pirates swept through the Vaqueros with victories by Inoue/Mason (8-2), Taylor/Le Boulenge (8-3) and Fujita/Jenna Lieu (8-4).

Following Friday's win, Coast returned to the friendly confines of the OCC Tennis Complex and rolled through visiting Cypress, 9-0, in an Orange Empire Conference matchup on Tuesday to improve to 13-1 overall, 6-0 in OEC play.

The Pirates will return to action on Thursday at Irvine Valley College, beginning at 2 p.m. OCC's next home match will be on Thursday, April 5 against Saddleback, also at 2 p.m.
