Pirates take top prize at 2015 Eagle Classic

SAN JACINTO -- Led by medalist Myles Valentine, the Orange Coast College men's golf team took home first place at the 2015 Mt. San Jacinto College Eagle Classic on Wednesday, held at Soboba Springs Country Club.

The Pirates shot a team score of 359, or a combined 1-under-par. Coast edged out Riverside City College's 361, while Santa Barbara City College finished third with a 367. Santiago Canyon (371), Ventura (378), Citrus (381), Saddleback (384), Palomar (385), College of the Desert (386) and Antelope Valley (389) round out the top-10 team scores.

Valentine conquered the 7,101-yard, par-72 course, earning lowest-score honors by carding a 4-under-par, 68. Conner Hurst was close behind his OCC teammate and shot a 3-under, 69. 

Bryson Bentley shot a 73, Tetsu Kase fired a 74, Zach Eddy carded a 75 and Nick Zapotoczny came in with a 76 for the deep and talented Pirates.

Coast will return to action on Wednesday as Cypress College hosts next week's Orange Empire Conference matchup, scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Navy Golf Course.
