Pirates settle for fourth-place result at home event

SANTA ANA -- The Orange Coast College men's golf team had to settle for a fourth-place outcome at Wednesday's Orange Empire Conference matchup, hosted by the Pirates at Santa Ana Country Club.

In a golf event where only five shots separated third place from fifth, the Pirates shot a team score of 400, one shot behind third-place Saddleback (399) and nine behind second-place Riverside (391). Santiago Canyon won the event with a score of 382, while Cypress (404) and Irvine Valley (410) round out the final team results.

Bryson Bentley led the Pirates (20-15) led the Pirates with a 4-over-par 76, while Zach Eddy came through and carded a 79. Connor Hurst (82), Myles Valentine (81), Miles Young (82) and Nick Zapotoczny (86) round out the individual scores for the Pirates.

The Pirates will return to action on Monday, April 6 as Riverside City College will host the next OEC event, held at Victoria Country Club, beginning at 8 a.m.
