Pirates place fourth at Canyons Invitational

VENTURA -- The Orange Coast College men's golf team took a break from Orange Empire Conference play and competed at the College of the Canyons Invitational on Monday and finished fourth out of 18 teams with a team score of 366 at Olivas Links Golf Club.

All six golfers performed well for the Pirates, but it was sophomore Zach Eddy who led the way, firing a 4-under-par 68 for Coast's lone sup-par score. Eddy carded the third-lowest score of the afternoon, topped only Riverside City College's Eric Cross (65) and Santiago Canyon's Byron Busse (67).

The remaining five Coast golfers all played within four shots of each other and within four shots of par, with Connor Hurst carding a 73, Miles Young carding a 74, Myles Valentine shooting a 75 and Nick Zapotoczny and Bryson Bentley each firing a 76.

The Pirates will return to OEC action on Wednesday when they host the rest of their conference foes at Santa Ana Country Club, beginning at 9 a.m.
