Pirates take second in final OEC event

IRVINE -- With the Orange Empire Conference championships right around the corner, the Orange Coast College men's golf team wrapped up the regular season with a strong, second-place performance at Oak Creek Golf Club on Wednesday.

Coast finished the regular season at 27-18, good enough for third place in the OEC standings behind Riverside (40-5) and Santiago Canyon (38-7).

On Wednesday, Coast shot a team score of 380, just four shots behind the Tigers' score of 376. Santiago Canyon and Cyress tied for third with the Hawks winning the tiebreaker with a lower sixth-golfer score.

Connor Hurst led the Pirates after shooting a 3-over-par 74, while teammates Nick Zapotoczny and Miles Young each carded a 4-over 75. Bryson Brantley and Myles Valentine each came in with a 78, while Zach Eddy carded an 82.

The 36-hole Orange Empire Conference championships begin on Monday, April 27 at Los Serranos Golf Club at 6:30 a.m.
