Pirates make quick work of Santiago Canyon with 5-0 win

ORANGE -- The Orange Coast College men's soccer team scored early and often to roll past Santiago Canyon, 5-0, on Tuesday at SCC.

Nicholas Cardenas had two goals and an assist for the Pirates (5-3-7, 4-2-2 in Orange Empire Conference), while Vitor Gameiro added a pair of assists and Dominic Bair added a goal and an assist. Parker Roberson and Brett Haney also found the back of the net for Coast, while goalie Sina Shahnazari notched seven saves.

The Pirates scored twice in the first half with goals by Haney and Bair (assists by Bair and Cardenas) before Coast pulled away from the Hawks (1-10-4, 1-7-1), with a three-goal outburst over a seven-minute span of the second half, courtesy of a pair of Cardenas goals (both assisted by Gameiro) and a goal from Roberson (assisted by Eder Gonzalez).

Coast will return to the OCC Soccer Complex on Tuesday to host Irvine Valley, beginning at 3 p.m.
