Pirates blank Warriors, 9-0
TORRANCE -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team made the most of Tuesday's trip to El Camino College, blanking the host Warriors, 9-0, in a nonconference matchup.
Coast picked up straight-set wins by Tokunosake Takahashi (6-3, 6-3), Ryu Miyake (6-1, 6-2), Tony Wright (6-2, 6-1) and Brian Dao (6-4, 6-4).
Pinoe Chu and David Nguyen battled back from opening-set losses to win in a super-tiebreaker, giving the Pirates a 6-0 lead in the contest.
In doubles, the Pirates were a perfect 3-0 to improve their overall record to 3-0.
Coast will return to action on Thursday at Grossmont College, beginning at 2 p.m. before hosting Imperial Valley on Friday, also at 2 p.m.
