Pirates sweep past Rustlers, Jets

COSTA MESA -- It was a fast and efficient week for the Orange Coast College men's volleyball team as the Pirates earned back-to-back three-set wins at Golden West on Wednesday (25-15, 25-13, 25-21) and on Friday at the Peterson Gym against San Diego Miramar (25-21, 25-15, 25-22).

With the wins, Coast (12-4, 9-1 in PCC) maintains a share of first place with Irvine Valley atop the Pacific Coast Conference standings with four matches remaining. 

In Wednesday's win over the rival Rustlers (5-10, 2-5), Adrian Faitalia led the way with 11 kills, while Nick Amado added nine and Kamaha'o Paio added five. Amado added five block assists as the Pirates garnered 22 block assists for the night.

Steven Duhoux dished out 27 assists, while on defense, the OCC setter also led the way with six digs.

In Friday's win over the Jets (2-12, 1-7), Faitalia once again led the way offensively with 11 kills, while Paio added seven and Amado notched six to go along with six blocks.

Sean Keyes dished out 18 assists, while Duhoux added 14. Libero Alec Podrasky anchored the defense with eight digs.

Coast will return to action on Wednesday at home against San Diego City College, beginning at 6 p.m.
