Pirates, Rustlers battle to scoreless draw

COSTA MESA -- The scoring chances were hard to come by for both teams as the Orange Coast College and Golden West College women's soccer teams battled to a 0-0 tie on Tuesday night inside OCC's LeBard Stadium.

The tie gives OCC (11-3-4, 9-3-3 in Orange Empire Conference) a one-point advantage over Cypress and two over Saddleback for second place in the OEC, behind champion Santiago Canyon with one match remaining. Coast will wrap up the regular season at LeBard Stadium on Friday against Irvine Valley, beginning at 3 p.m.

The Pirates had a few decent scoring chances -- the best coming in the 25th minute when a Coast shot ripped off of the crossbar and out of play.

Coast goalkeeper Emily Harrier kept the Rustlers (7-7-6, 6-5-4) off of the scoreboard and notched five saves. GWC netminder Olivia Bedard matched Harrier and blanked the Pirates with four saves.
