COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's soccer clinched second place in the always-tough Orange Empire Conference with a 2-1 win over visiting Irvine Valley on Friday inside LeBard Stadium.
With the win, Coast (10-3-3, 33 points) remained ahead of third-place Cypress (10-4-2, 32 points) by one point in the OEC standings, trailing only the conference champion, Santiago Canyon (14-1-1, 33 points).
Playoff seedings will be announced this weekend and the Pirates should have a solid spot in the playoff picture.
Danielle Dapello picked up a pair of goals in the regular-season finale for the Pirates, both off of assists by Shelle Zito.
Dapello's first goal put the Pirates ahead 1-0 in the 13th minute and her second goal came in the 59th minute.
Goalkeeper Emily Harrier had three saves for the Pirates.
