HUNTINGTON BEACH -- The Orange Coast College women's soccer team played a solid, all-around contest on Friday en route to a 2-0 Orange Empire Conference win over host Golden West.
While the Pirates' defense was doing a great job of keeping the Rustlers off the scoreboard, the OCC offense took advantage of a couple of scoring opportunities and cashed in twice with goals by Sabrina Chantler and Tiffany Chantler.
Goalkeeper Alison Marlow notched a shutout in the win and picked up three saves along the way.
With the win, the Pirates improve to 4-1-2 in the OEC (6-2-4 overall) and remain tied for third with Fullerton and close behind first-place Santiago Canyon (6-1-1) and second-place Cypress (5-1-1) in the conference standings.
Coast will play at Norco College on Tuesday, beginning at 3 p.m. OCC's next home match will be on Tuesday, Oct. 17 against Santiago Canyon, also at 3 p.m.
