Pirates double-up Riverside to open OEC play
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team opened Orange Empire Conference play and came through with a 6-3 win over visiting Riverside City College on Thursday afternoon.
OCC (4-0, 1-0 in OEC) jumped out to a 4-2 lead in singles, thanks to victories by Haley Dickson (6-2, 6-3), Mai Hashimoto (6-1, 6-1) and Anh Pham (6-4, 7-5). In doubles, Coast took 2-of-3, with victories by Dickson and Nikki Thornburg (8-4) as well as Hashimoto and Nadine Baquiran (8-6).
Coast returns to action on Tuesday at Saddleback College (2 p.m.). OCC's next home match will be on Thursday against Fullerton (2 p.m.).
