Pirates finish sixth at MSJC invitational
SAN JACINTO -- The Orange Coast College men's golf team finished sixth in Friday's 2014 Eagle Golf Classic, hosted by Mt. San Jacinto College, held at The Country Club at Soboba Springs.
OCC finished with a team score of 388 in the 17-team event and trailed only Santiago Canyon (360), Santa Barbara (376), Ventura (385), Cypress (386) and College of the Canyons (387).
Marc Reyes led the way for the Pirates, shooting a 1-over-par, 73. Cody Kelly and Zach Olson each scored a 77, Michael Chen carded a 78, Zach Eddy notched an 83 and Jem Young carded an 84.
Reyes' 73 was tied for 10th-best among all individual scores. SCC's Tanner Rice earned the low-round medal by shooting a 4-under 68.
The Pirates will return to action on Wednesday in an Orange Empire Conference meet, hosted by Cypress College, beginning at 11 a.m. at Navy Golf Course.
