Pirates drop to second in OEC following latest conference event
RIVERSIDE -- It appears that the Orange Empire Conference men's golf title might come down to the 18th hole of the final day of competition.
With just one OEC event remaining as well as the two-round OEC Championships, the conference crown is still up for grabs.
On Monday at RCC's home match, held at Victoria Country Club, the OCC (36-9 overall) Pirates dropped to second place, one win behind Santiago Canyon after a third-place team score of 384. The Hawks (37-8) won the event with a 373, followed by Riverside (31-14) which shot a 374.
Marc Reyes led the Pirates by shooting an even-par 72. Michael Chen was three shots back of Reyes after carding a 3-over 75. Jem Young (78), Zach Eddy (79), Theron Ornt (80) and Zach Olson (80) complete OCC's scoring.
The final conference matchup will take place on Wednesday, April 16 at Oak Creek (Irvine Valley host), beginning at 12 p.m. The OEC Championships will be on April 28 and May 5 at Los Serranos Golf Club.
