Reyes, Eddy both leave their mark at the Men's Golf State Championships

RIVERSIDE -- A pair of Orange Coast College men's golfers -- freshmen Marc Reyes and Zach Eddy -- both had memorable moments at Monday's California Community College Athletic Association Men's Golf State Championships, held at Victoria Country Club.

Reyes opened the two-round event by carding a 1-over-par, 73, on the 6,517-yard par 72 course under hot, windy conditions. With the wind and heat intensifying, Reyes stepped up and fired a 2-under 70 to finish fourth in the state with a two-round score of 1-under 143.

Reyes joins five other golfers -- College of the Canyons' Sidney Wolf (71-68-139), Ventura's Greg Robarge (71-70-141), San Jose's Johnny Greco (70-72-142), Glendale's Evin Davis (70-74-144) and Riverside's Eric Cross (73-71-144) -- on the 2014 All-State Team for finishing in the top-five, statewide.

As for Eddy, he finished 17th in the state after shooting a 74-75-149, but he left his mark during the morning round on the fifth hole. It was there, that Eddy took on the 137-yard, par-3 and calmly carded a hole-in-one, giving the OCC standout the lone ace of the state championship.

Riverside won the team title after edging out College of the Canyons. both teams shot a two-round total of 734, but in the sixth-golfer tiebraker, RCC's player shot a 78, while Canyons' sixth player shot a 79, giving the Tigers the title.
