Pirates take over first with solid OEC performance
CHINO -- The Orange Coast College men's golf team returned to its familiar spot atop the Orange Empire Conference standings after winning this week's conference meet held at El Prado Golf Club on Wednesday.
Coast went a perfect 5-0 for the event, shooting a team score of 361, or 1-over-par for the entire team. Riverside (4-1) carded a team score of 367, while Santiago Canyon fired a team score of 372. Saddleback (375), Cypress (385) and Irvine Valley (392) rounded out the team scoring.
With the five wins, Coast jumps back on top of the OEC standings with a 24-6 record, followed by SCC (23-7) and Riverside (22-8).
Pirate standout Marc Reyes led the Pirates by shooting a 3-under-par 69, while teammate Michael Chen, carded a 2-under 70. Other OCC scores included Jem Young (73), Zach Olson (74), Cody Kelly (75) and Zach Eddy (79).
The Pirates will look to remain on top of the OEC with another conference meet, scheduled for Monday at Tijeras Creek, beginning at 12 p.m.
