Pirates stand alone in first with OEC win at Santa Ana CC

SANTA ANA -- The Orange Coast College men's golf team pulled out a six-shot win over Santiago Canyon in Wednesday's Orange Empire Conference match, held at the Pirates' home course, Santa Ana Country Club.

With experience and team depth on their side, the Pirates shot a solid team score of 377, while the Hawks came in second after carding a 383. Riverside (401) finished third.

The 5-0 record for Coast on Wednesday, gives OCC a 33-7 record, one win ahead of SCC (32-8) and six more than Riverside (27-13) for the conference lead.

Sophomore Michael Chen carded the low round of the day with a 3-under-par 69. Teammate Marc Reyes was right behind with a 2-under 70, while Jem Young (78), Zach Olson (80) and Theron Ornt (80) completed OCC's scores for the afternoon.

Riverside will host the next OEC event at Victoria Country Club on Monday, beginning at 12 p.m.
