Pirates come up short to Santiago Canyon
ORANGE -- The Orange Coast College women's soccer team came up a couple of goals short on Tuesday, falling at Santiago Canyon College by the score of 3-1 in a tough Orange Empire Conference matchup.
The Hawks (13-0-1, 10-0-1), ranked No. 1 in the state polls, jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead and never looked back.
Orange Coast (11-3, 7-3) saw it's seven-match win streak come to an end, despite a strong effort. The Pirates got back to within a goal in the 55th minute when Jessica Amaral assisted on a goal by Kiley Leshin.
But it would not be enough as the Hawks tacked on a third goal to ice the match.
Kate O'Banion had four saves in goal for the Pirates, who will return home on Friday to face Norco, beginning at 3 p.m.
