MacArthur scores four goals in 6-0 win over Irvine Valley

COSTA MESA -- Some days the back of the net is easier to find than others, and for Sarah MacArthur, it was "one of those days." The sophomore midfielder scored four goals to lead the Pirates past visiting Irvine Valley, 6-0, to wrap up the regular season in style.

Sara Gomez added a goal and an assist for OCC (17-3, 13-3 in OEC), while Kelsey McKay added a goal. Emma Pridmore had two assists, while solo helpers were turned in by Courtney Garrity and Devin Broederlow.

MacArthur got OCC on the scoreboard early when she took a feed from Garrity and broke free from the defense, ripping a shot into the upper-left corner of the goal in the game's second minute.

In the 11th minute, Gomez stripped a defender of the ball, dribbled down the backline and fed a charging MacArthur for a wide-open shot to make it 2-0.

With a little help from the gusty winds, MacArthur lifted a left-footed shot from the right side into the upper-left corner of the goal in the 27th minute, putting Coast ahead 3-0 at the half.

Just nine minutes into the second half, MacArthur notched her fourth goal off of a shot by Pridmore that was saved by IVC goalkeeper Amanda Rashtian (nine saves).

Gomez, OCC's team leader in goals with 19, flipped the ball over one defender, dribbled by another defender and ripped an unstoppable shot into the upper-right corner of the net to make it 5-0.

McKay capped off the Pirates' scoring with a goal in the 88th minute from a pass by Broederlow.

OCC outshot the Lasers 19-3 and the goalkeeper tandem of Kate O'Banion (no saves in 45 minutes) and Emily Harrier (two saves in 45 minutes) helped notch the team's 14th shutout of the season.

The Pirates have outscored the opposition 78-9 this year, averaging 3.9 goals per contest.
