Pirates dominate in 4-0 win over Norco

COSTA MESA -- It was a dominating performance for the Orange Coast College women's soccer team during Friday's 4-0 Orange Empire Conference win over visiting Norco College.

Coast (12-3, 8-3 in OEC) outshot Norco 25-0 in the match. If not for three shots that rang off of crossbars and several stellar saves by Mustangs' goalkeeper Jordin Crosby, the final goal difference would have been much wider.

After an early barrage of offense yielded no goals, the Pirates finally found success in the 28th minute when Sara Gomez fed a pass to Emma Pridmore, who beat a cheating Crosby with a long shot on goal.

In the final minute of the first half, Coast made it 2-0 when a shot attempt by Jessica Amaral was knocked back to teammate Sarah MacArthur, who popped a shot into the back of net.

Just 10 minutes into the second half, the Pirates scored again when a deflected ball found its way to Gomez, who beat Crosby with a hard shot to make it 3-0.

The scoring came to an end just two minutes later when Amaral hooked up with Gomez, who notched her second goal of the game.

The Pirates will return to action on Tuesday at Santa Ana College, beginning at 3 p.m. OCC's next home match will be on Friday against Saddleback College, also at 3 p.m.
