Pirates win eighth straight with Quad sweep

SAN BERNARDINO -- Six sets, six dominating wins for the Orange Coast College women's volleyball team as the Pirates swept past West Los Angeles and San Bernardino Valley in a Quad hosted by SBVC on Friday.

In the opening match, Coast made quick work West L.A., cruising to a 25-10, 25-12, 25-18 win over the Wildcats. The offense was spread around throughout the OCC lineup, with Aubrey St. Laurent leading the way with six kills, while Alibelle Pilimai and Devyn Holland each added five.

Rylee Adair anchored the Pirate defense with 27 digs, while Savannah Babcock dished out a team-best 10 assists.

In the afternoon match, OCC took on host SBVC and quickly dispatched of the Wolverines, 25-11, 25-6, 25-8. OCC had only seven hitting errors throughout the contest and Hannah Del Barto led the way with eight kills, while Holland and Sierra Lim each notched five. 

Adari was again a force on defense with a team-best 18 digs, while Holland contributed 15 assists. 

OCC had 15 aces throughout the match with Mackenzie Bill leading the way with four and Holland and Evelyn Awai each with three.

Coast will have the weekend off before opening up Orange Empire Conference play on Wednesday at home against Santiago Canyon, beginning at 6 p.m.
